Pick & Place Systems

Pick & Place System:
MC-30, designed for Excellon Automation

Precision Research contracted to design all aspects of Styling and Mechanical Design. The project was started from zero and the first unit was exhibited at Nepcon in 5 1/2 months.

Initially the client specified a system that would be dedicated to SMT input by one method, i.e. The use of vibratory feeder trays.

Precision Research felt it was not clear that using trays was the only preference for the majority of users and proposed to the client that if a system was designed that could employ any form of input that the entire market could be potential customers.

The client hesitatingly approved. Precision Research then developed the entire system in record time including an array of totally new input mechanisms: Vibratory Trays, Tape Feed, Pick from plastic grid moldings, Vertical Tubes, Air alignment etc. To speed the development, Precision Research also produced the outer packaging tooling and all enclosure components.

The result: The MC-30 that quickly became the unquestioned world leader for Pick and Place for SMT.
